About
Theme: Emerging Trends in Materials and Processes in Advanced Metal Additive Manufacturing
About the workshop
ASTM AM CoE Snapshot Workshops are intended to provide an overview of the status of the technology in its phases of advancement. This one-day workshop, at The Ohio State University, Blackwell Inn & Conference Center, will provide a comprehensive snapshot of the emerging trends in materials and processes in the additive manufacturing (AM) domain. Multiple industry sectors use Additive Manufacturing not only for niche applications but for enhanced functionality and system efficiency. Metal additive manufacturing technologies such as Laser powder bed fusion (PBF-LB) and Directed Energy Deposition (DED) lead the way in scaling up additive manufacturing and finding new avenues of application.
The workshop welcomes individuals interested in staying abreast of the latest advancements in metal AM technologies across diverse sectors. Attendees will have the opportunity to glean insights from industry experts and foster collaborative opportunities, making it an invaluable platform for professionals engaged in additive manufacturing.
The 11th Snapshot Workshop covers the standardization needs in advanced materials and processes in additive manufacturing while incorporating recent developments. AM CoE’s research programs and other initiatives with its partners in filling the standardization gaps will be another focus of the discussion.
Who Should Attend
This workshop is open to all manufacturing professionals, including industry (aerospace, medical, automotive, energy, and defense), academia, and government agency representatives who want to learn about the latest AM standardized practices and the research and development initiatives in AM qualification.
Why You Should Attend
The speakers in this workshop are experts from industry sectors who lead the research and innovation in additive manufacturing. This gives a unique opportunity for the participants to understand more about the best standardized practices and participate in the interactive presentations and panel discussions. Each session is designed with a focus on industry needs and the role that standards can play in driving additive manufacturing.
Earn a Verification of Completion Certificate
This Snapshot Workshop is the 11th offering from the AM CoE Education & Workforce Development (E&WD) Program, which provides training opportunities for various levels of the AM workforce. Each workshop participant will receive a digital Verification of Completion Certificate from ASTM AM CoE. Workshop attendees interested in receiving .55 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) should complete a CEU application form. A certificate will be sent to the attendee approximately 4 to 6 weeks after the application form is received.
The topics for discussion in the workshop are highly relevant to the requirements for various industry applications, and it broadly includes but are not limited to;
- Advanced materials
- Emerging applications in Defense, Aerospace, Bio medical and automotive
- Applications in Semiconductor industry
- Advancements in laser technology for metal AM
- Cross-sector harmonization in Additive Manufacturing.
Registration Fees
- ASTM Members: $150.00
- Non-Members: $200.00
*Register to become an ASTM member.
